Nahargarh Fort is the first three forts built by Maharaja Jai Singh II in
1734. Situated 6 km North West of City Palace, it provides some stunning
views of Jaipur down below the Man Sagar Lake. Many of the old structures
within the fort are in bad condition, except the one added by Sawai Singh II
and Sawai Madho Singh II
This impressive fort anchorage many legends and three kings have added
their stamp at different times to the structures within the fort. In the
midst of this lake, is a palatial duck blind, which was used for shooting
parties by the erstwhile royal family. A royal retreat for the Maharanis, it
was also used as a personal treasury for many years.
The road from Amber through the hills can be traveled by jeep or by
rickshaw zigzagging for a distance of one and a half kilometres before it
straightens out to reveal the approach to Jaipur
