Surrounded by the majestic Vindhya and the Aravali hill ranges,
Ranthambhore spans over Ranthambhore is a National park famous for tigers.
According to legends, it was once a hunting ground for the Maharaja of
Jaipur.

Before being declared as a National park in 1980, the sanctuary became the
part of Project Tiger Scheme. The sanctuary is beautified by God's grace as
it has decent deciduous forest spreading over rocks, ridges, lakes and
pools. Famous for tigers, the park houses antelopes, Nilgai, Sambhar and
Chital that are easy to spot. One can easily locate these animals near the
lakes and the water holes.
The Fort
Amongst the green landscape stands a majestic fort- Ranthambhore. This is
1000 year old fort and was built during the Chauhan dynasty. The fort is
famous for " Johar" by Rajput women in 1301 A.D.
A stay
There are heritage hotels as well as rest houses provided by RTDC. The Taj
group endorse a Maharaja Lodge that provide a world class accommodation. The
RTDC provides Jogi Mahal, the forest rest house and the hotel
Kamdhenu.Jhoomer Baori is another forest lodge maintained by RTDC.
Jeep Safari
One can opt for Jeep Safari to cover the forest and that is reserved under
Project Tiger Office.
Best time to visit
The best time to visit the park is from October to June.
